Will is Tiger Cub Scout, and he has been looking forward to building a car for his Cub Scout Pack's Pinewood Derby. With a bit of help (or a bunch of help) from Daddy and Mama, he made a pretty awesome car that he named "Flames of the Tiger."
Step 1 - Will found a neat Matchbox race car and Mama helped sketch a similar, but simpler design
Step 2 - Will cut out sketches and traced templates onto the pine block
Step 3 - Daddy and Will cut out and carved the basic shape until Will got really bored
Step 4 - Daddy and Will sanded it until Will got really bored
Step 5 - Mama carved some details and sanded some more
Step 6 - Will painted the car black (Mama showed him how to move the brush)
Step 7 - Will painted the car black a few more times
Step 8 - Mama taped off and Will painted the windows silver
Step 9 - Mama taught Will how to paint flames
Step 10 - Will painted flames until he got really bored (Mama finished them)
Step 11 - Mama and Daddy took turns spraying the clear coats
Step 12 - Will watched Daddy struggle to attach the wheels
Step 13 - Mama wiped off all Daddy's graphite fingerprints
Step 14 - Will tried out and named his fancy race car
Step 15 - Daddy took Will to have it weighed (4.9oz) and submitted for competition
Step 16 - Get a good night's sleep and get ready for a big day of racing tomorrow!
